Military

New technologies in modern warfare have radically altered the concept of how wars can be fought. Today’s fighting force is made up of specialists, well-equipped with highly integrated handheld combat system, incorporating Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Electronic Chart Display Information Systems (ECDIS), real-time weather reports, remote communications via wireless modems etc – all fitted into a palm-sized gadget. MRD Technologies is able to design such military hardware that is rated 67 on the Ingress Protection scale.

Law Enforcement

Law enforcement depends heavily on real-time information. With heightened pressures from terror alerts, many countries are adopting the new passport standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) that incorporates contactless IC chips containing biometric data. The ICAO directive has led to the development of intelligent handheld terminals that access such biometric information. MRD Technologies has designed such passport readers, equipped with GSM and/or GPRS communication to keep law enforcement officers connected wherever they are.

Ruggedized Handheld Terminals

Companies are increasingly using technology to improve productivity and to reduce expenses. Order taking, deliveries and status-tracking can be ‘weaved’ together using technology. Remote sensing technologies such as RFID are now prevalent around us – we see it being used in transport cards, office access cards, tagging of library books etc. Additionally, connectivity is seamlessly accessible and very affordable – examples are wLAN hotspots at Starbucks and McDonalds, GPRS technology and SMS messaging. MRD Technologies has designed many of such handheld terminals used in various applications.
